A long time ago I stopped displaying Adsense ads on several of my blogs, including this one, because of the types of ads which were showing. On a health-related blog I did not want to advertise drugs and weight-loss fads, and on this blog I did not want to advertise scams or get-rich quick schemes.

You may have heard about the recent commotion when Amazon.com and other affiliate networks had to drop all affiliates from certain states. If you lived in North Carolina, Hawaii, or Rhode Island, you might have received a notification from Amazon that you could no longer be their affiliate. For some people this may not seem like a big deal, but for some it is devastating.

It doesn’t hurt to get credit where credit is due. You could be losing some valid backlinks, if you use a service such as Feedburner to manage your RSS feeds. But that’s easy to fix.
