Lately there seem to be quite a few bloggers using contests to get more traffic to their blogs. Smart idea, if your blog is already big enough and/or you have some resources or connections.
One example is this post here at John Cow, Win Bigtime with Store Stacker. It’s like a virtual raffle where you earn more raffle tickets by tweating and linking and posting for the blog that is running the contest. John Cow is offering some pretty heavy prizes, of both the hardware and software varieties. One of these is what looks like an incredible tool for affiliate sites – Store Stacker.
And Mr. Cow has also recently posted some instructions and tips for starting your own Blog Contest. You can see this at Planning a Contest to Get the Buzz Going.
Not everyone is in a position to offer prizes like our friend Mr. Cow. But .. who knows! Maybe you have your own eBook, or some friends in the right places somewhere who could help you offer some prizes. Could be a great way to get some more attention for your blog!

My flu is better now. Now I am just spending all my time packing and sorting. I am hoping it will be over in a few days! So much work and so much time offline! I will die of Internet deprivation, with all this bothersome packing.
By the way you really inspired me … I have been wanting to change this domain name. When I originally got it, it was meant to be something totally different. Now it is turning into this blog and I don’t like the name.
So I got an idea. Actually it was after reading your blog. I got an idea for a name I wanted, and it was available! So I bought it. Later I need to figure out how to switch the blog over to a new name … yikes! Anyway I won’t write the domain name here but if you want to know you can email me.

John Cow definitely throws big contests for sure! I am doing my 1st one ever to see how well it works going viral. We shall see if it is beneficial for my blog or not.

I apparently was one of the winner’s of John Cow’s last contest. I just can’t figure out how I am supposed to get the prizes!
Yeah, there has been quite a few contests lately Anna. Actually the previous post on my blog prior to Holly’s birthday post was for a group writing Title contest for ProBlogger. The prize was just won by a random drawing, but, later on I have to make the rounds and look at a bunch of the other entries. I guess a lot of the idea is to get yourself out there and let others know who you are in the blogosphere. Hopefully soon good connections might be made, and perhaps readers.
By the way Anna, thank you so very much for all of the work you have put in on my book and everything. I really, really appreciate the help! Like LOTS!!!!!!!!!!!!

About that Storestacker contest – it was the first contest I ever enetered. And guess what? I won!!!!
I was winner #5 and I got Storestacker and Content Solution. I could have gotten an iPod too but I am getting a substitute.
Anyway I am SO excited because it is exactly what I need right now! I am working on making my first Storestacker site but later I will write another post about this.
Contests work very well to add interactivity on your blog and also play a vital role in increasing your feed numbers

Contest is a good idea for getting more publicity and traffic. But I never got a sponsor for that.
