Do you ever feel like you don’t want to stop to sleep anymore? Do you ever feel like just going and going and going … until every incomplete website is built, until every article is written and submitted, until every new plugin is uploaded and set, until every email is answered or sorted or deleted, until every blog you should visit has been visited, until every PDF is written or edited, until every job is done, until all of your bookmarks are organized, until every incomplete social profile is updated …
I don’t know how many of those who visit my blog have husband’s, wives, or mothers. But you know that expectant look you get when they are wondering if you are going to go to bed soon? Or sometimes it’s only a feeling you get, even if they aren’t looking at you directly. Even if you can’t see them, you feel it in the back of your shoulders sometimes … they are trying to be polite. They know you are busy and enthusiastic. But at the same time they are wondering … Or is this just me?
I don’t advocate going day after day without sufficient sleep. It can ruin people. But sleeping too much can ruin people too! And an occasional all-nighter never hurt anyone.
So, me. I’m tired of sleeping! (Like my pun?
) I’ve had enough!
I’ve finished a lot of projects. It just never seems to be enough!
For every big project I complete online, I seem to have 5 more new ones tugging at my sleeve and nagging me for attention. “Mommy, mom, my turn! I’m just a poor little baby website with only one page and I still have a comment from Mr. WordPress on me! Its my turn! Its my turn!”
I’m not just referring to this blog, but other niches as well. But I could easily spend all day every day on this blog, just adding content and pages and posts that I have been meaning to write and carrying along in my head. I don’t diverge or disperse out of my current niches, and any new project I’ve recently embarked upon is complimentary to the old. I have old websites to overhaul, new software to learn about and implement, posts and articles to write … and everything I do is something that I know will be well worth it in the long run. I don’t even think I do things out of sequence. But sometimes there just seems to be so much to do!
I spent the majority of the past three weeks building up a Squidoo account with 50 Lenses for a certain niche. Well, I finished that, and that’s great. But as far as sleeping is concerned … sometimes I’d just like to put it on hold.

Sleep? What’s that? Is that what you’re calling the time I spend driving to and from my job? HAHA!
Ok, so I don’t sleep on my way to work (usually), but I most certainly understand where you’re coming from…and I don’t have the busy online life that you have yet! I’ll tell you one thing, though…it sure makes me grateful that you’ve been willing to chime on on my little old blog!
I do find myself preferring to network and blog over sleep, though. I headed to bed last night and my wife (who is a night owl – that’s when she does HER work) came into the bedroom because the light was still on and said “what are you doing? STILL BLOGGING?” Too funny because she blogs and networks and stuff, she should know what I’m going through!
But now the pesky job is getting in the way! I gotta go get ready to do that now…
Dustins last blog post..A Goal is Met!
@ Dustin – You have a great little blog. But it isn’t a “little old blog,” its a “little new blog.” I enjoy reading it and I am glad I could help you get it up and started!
Jobs can be very annoying.
@ Joe – Hi there! I’m glad you liked my post and I’m glad I’m not alone! Lack of sleep isn’t a problem at the moment. Once I do fall asleep, the hard part is getting out of bed! Especially since I am trying to be on a night schedule, so when it’s “time to get up” its pitch black and quiet and everyone is sleeping. That makes it REALLY hard to get out of bed!
Its much easier for me to stay up late, or just go without sleeping for a while and then catch up on sleep.
I wish I were a morning person like you, but unfortunately, I seem to always just want to keep going at whatever I am doing – whether it’s working, or sleeping.
Anna, why don’t we all just stop sleeping and become pioneers in the field of Life 2.0?:) There was an internet marketer in another forum I used to frequent that did a blog documentation of sleeping in small increments around the clock. He would sleep for 15 minutes or so and get up for a few hours- 24 hours a day.
The last time I checked in he was feeling pretty good and getting a ton of work done to boot. I don’t think it was something he could do forever because he had a family but it seemed to be a good thing while it lasted.
Oh congrats on the 50 niche lenses! You’re the unofficial “Squidoo Queen” around here now, lol:)
Hahaha, yessssssssssssssss…I know all about this Anna! I love it! I understand how it goes, it gets crazy at times. Sometimes you don’t want to sleep…but this isn’t healthy at all!
I try to balance as much as possible, and get up early in the morning rather than stay up late….it works out better for me.

Great post Anna. I can’t relate to no sleep because I’m one of those people who simply can’t function without it. But I am empathetic to all of those unfinished sites with the WordPress comment still on it! It’s overwhelming when you sometimes just can’t seem to get all the thoughts out of your head!

Hi Anna!
Man oh man…can I relate to this post! Last night (for about the 3rd or 4 th in a row) I crept into bed at 3am. Once I get to working there are so many areas that I want to get to…in addition to my other IRL responsibilites like paying the bills, cleaning house. In the mornings when my husband wakes me up, ok, the very late mornings
he usually greets me with the call of an owl..Tonight I must get to bed by 11pm, for we have a 9:30am appt. IF I could learn to stop working, realizing it will be here tomorrow, I’d do much better. So many lessons to learn!
Until next time…Annie

Anna,
Wow! You my wife and your husband must be talking to each other because I get those looks or feelings all the time. She is not into the blogging world at all and don’t really understand all the complexities of this business. Hell, I don’t understanding all of them and I have been at this seriously searching for a few months now.
Oh well, she is going to have to live with it because I am on a mission to achieve my goals and dreams even if I have to sacrifice a few days, hours of sleep.
I, too, have the feeling that no matter how much I accomplish it is not enough because all along the way I am constantly learning more and more that needs to be implemented.
That’s all right because once the residual monster is created, she and I will enjoy the fruits of this blogging labor!

I’m sorry everyone, I just don’t have time to answer your comments. I’m to busy.
Kidding!
I’m sorry I’ve taken so long to respond on my own blog. But the good part is I have been plugging away at all those nagging incomplete little projects and I’ve gotten a lot of them out of the way. What a relief!
Thanks for all the responses and encouragement.
I didn’t even stop sleeping. I just stopped trying to sleep “when I was supposed to sleep.” Now I just go as long as I can and go to sleep when I am honestly tired. It doesn’t make for a very predictable schedule, but at the moment, that’s fine!
Annas last blog post..Internet Marketers – Who SAYS its time for Bed?
And they say the conventional 9-5 jobs (that end up being anything BUT 9-5) ruin people’s sleep schedule…
As long as you’re getting “enough” sleep and don’t start seeing things that aren’t there (like this comment) then you should be ok!
Just drink more coffee and tape your eyelids open!
Dustins last blog post..Getting Started in Internet Marketing…???
sleep… i just dream about my blog and other sites anyway. there is just so much work to do in establishing and maintaining a blog/site/whatever.
sean.
Goodness, I was just saying this to my someone a couple of days ago, how I wish I never had to go to sleep again because there’s just to much I want to do and need to do. I tend to stay up really late and wake early, comparatively, and start all over again. I know it’s going to catch up to me one day, but for now, I’m going to continue playing Energizer Bunny.

Sleep? I’m starting to forget about sleep..
Seriously.. Work has taken away my sleep that after writing my stuffs or tweaking my adwords campaigns I can barely get to sleep.. That’s really forgetting how to fall asleep literally..
Erwin Tans last blog post..Unleashing The Niche Genius In You
@ Dustin … okay well I am a bit slow in answering this comment, aren’t I. I think a bit of eyelid taping and coffee can be a great thing. But like all great things, in moderation! Its probably best not to get addicted to it.
@ Sean – I know where you’re coming from. Sometimes I wish I really was getting things done while I slept.
@ Mitch –
Well, that’s better than being a lazy couch potato at least! Look at the bright
side. But yes, do catch up on sleep. At least occasionally.
@ Erwin – I think you might want to catch up occasionally. Burning the midnight oil here and there is not a bad thing at all. But try to catch up sometimes – maybe on weekends?
Love it Anna! I agree. I wish I had the time to spend the next 12 to 24 hours straight catching up and finishing up EVERYTHING. No offense to my sweetheart love Josh – but just for one day would be nice. When I first started working online ages ago I would do this. When Josh was a baby and was sleeping half the day and half the night on and off – I would be superwoman or supermom marketer who never slept. I have no idea how I did it day after day but I did. It paid off. I know I am not that old now (26) but I cannot handle it anymore. I wish I could keep doing that but I have a sleep disorder and have to keep my sleep schedule as balanced as possible. If I were you – if you can handle it – go for it for a while – a few days or a week to catch up and get a lot done. It will pay off. I love this post!
Holly’s last blog post..Way to Save Money-How to Make Laundry Detergent
Holly I admire that you can still do what you do with a child there. Wow! Sometimes, I feel like even “dinner time” is too much of a distraction for me. No, not dinner, I’m busy! I am going pretty flat-out right now to finish things. I finished several revamps (but not all of them) and I’m even finally getting my personal blog together, with photos and poetry on it
You can live without sleep for some time. But don’t you feel sorry for your organism, your body and soul??? So much jobyou do. Perhaps, you feel satisfied, but it’s hardly good for you. And if you don’t have time for your family, there’s not that much to live for. But it’s only my opinion.
@ Liza – Thanks for your input!
Great post. Its very useful and very informative.I can tell did your research as well as adding some of your personal side. I look forward to seeing more of your writings published.
I know how you feel, there is always so much to do online it’s crazy! I know marketers who do 8-14 hours online a day, you’re not alone there are a ton of us doing this. You and I both know that the end result will be well worth all of this hard work.
